Earthquake Update

Hello,

I am including some pictures.  My house is a mess.  It is a miracle any of us got out.  Praise the Lord!!!!!

I am in Jacksonville to try to raise funding to make the construction site more livable.  I will stay if I can accomplish anything and if someone is with my children.  Kathy Brooks is keeping them right now.

I still can't talk.  No phone calls.   The concrete dust did a number on me.  Both ears are infected, sinuses a mess,  sore throat, and bad bronchitis.   I am feeling a little better but need to rest.  The doctor gave me antibiotics and they are helping.

We are receiving some help.  There is a construction team surveying the damage and forming a plan to rebuild the wall & build the school/orphanage. Praise the Lord!!!!!   Also, a medical team is sleeping at my house and conducting clinics 3 blocks away.  Praise the Lord!!!!!
Kathy Brooks is keeping my children.  Praise the Lord!!!!!

I am sorry I could not communicate better last week.  After the earthquake we had no communication.  My phone did not work.  My computer was in my room hanging out the back of the house.  The roads near my house were clogged with thousands of wrecked cars and not passable at first.    Having no control over that, I really felt that my first priority was to find food, clothing, and bedding for my children
Some friends stopped by after a few days who did have limited communication and I asked them to contact as many as possible. .

My website is new.  I had not really started to use it yet.  It is better for people to receive my newsletter or Facebook page than the website.  My Facebook page is under my proper name - Sherrill Fausey.  Sherrie is a nickname.
I added people who wrote on the website to my newsletter list.  If you did not want added please just let me know.

I had not been able to check email for a week.  When I did there were 659 emails. About half of these were from Facebook but many were friends asking how we were.   I cannot answer them all personally and I would be repeating the same information over and over.  Please do not be offended if you did not get a personal reply.  It is much better if I can send a newsletter to everyone.

Many people wrote concerning adoption.  I am not licensed to do adoptions.  Here is a ministry that does this.  http://www.hishomeforchildren.com/

Many people said they wanted to collect things to send to Haiti.  That is a very kind thing to do but I have no way to ship all the shoes & clothes & toiletry items.  The people bringing in suitcases right now have them packed with medicines and building tools.  That needs to be done through a large organization that ships containers.  Agape Flights will be collecting things to donate to needy people.  We are receiving clothing, shoes, and toiletries, etc.

It is much more helpful to me if you will do a fundraiser.  We need to get the children inside the building.  We needs funding to buy blocks and rebar and concrete.   A beautician said they were going to do a "cut-a-thon" - cut hair and donate all the money.  Praise the Lord!!!!!  What a wonderful idea!!!  Could you do a fundraiser and send the money to

Let's have a contest.  Who can come up with the most original fundraiser to build the orphanage?????

We will need to limit visitors for a while because we do not have very nice accomadations now.  We will need construction teams to come to Haiti.   The beautiful house was destroyed.  The nearby guesthouses were destroyed.   We are living and working in a crowded construction site.  The construction team that is there now is sleeping on the roof.  The medical team ladies are in a classroom that has a rough bathroom.  This ain't the Hilton Hotel folks.  For a while we can only take construction teams and medical teams.

I was writing this when the aftershock came on the news.  Please continue to pray for Haiti.  They are so afraid.
